PPG Chair Report: October 2023 to September 2024
Last October, I was elected as chair of the PPG for a second year, as well as retaining the role of secretary.
I have developed a good working relationship with the new practice manager who has been keen to include the PPG in discussions about developments within the practice, including the changes to the telephone system and new appointment triage system
Together we updated the PPG policy a few months ago to reflect the current arrangements in place for membership records, information dissemination and roles within the committee.
During this year we have managed to increase out PPG email group, mainly from new patients to the practice and that group now has 27 members. Both the email group and committee members receive regular news and information, from both local and national organisations. The committee continues to meet every 7/8 weeks or so
PPG members are continuing to support Flu and Covid vaccination clinics during the Autumn and Spring campaigns by helping at check in and with queue management. Although it can be tiring, we enjoy meeting and chatting to patients and our help is always appreciated by the surgery team.
In October we will be holding our first patient information session since the “pandemic”. This will take the form of a presentation on Advance Care Planning which will include information about recording individual wishes for Emergency Care and Treatment and the information sharing system in place locally. It is hoped that AGE UK will also be present to support the session.
We hope to run other information sessions next year and topic suggestions would be welcome.
My thanks go to Tess and Rob Munden who, once again, have acted as the joint vice-chairs for the past year and are always there to support me.
Lastly, our thanks to all the Surgery staff for their continuing hard work and care .
Jean Poole (Chair and secretary) (2/9/24)
